Here at Coates Law, I am solely focused on protection of your ideas and business. Through counsel on trademarks, I am committed to providing my clients with competent and timely representation.

As a business owner, I have taken tremendous time and energy in the creation of unique designs. With the care I expended, my immediate concern became assuring my designs were not copied in any way and illegally used by others to profit. For nearly a decade I have practiced law. I have represented business clients, government clients, and individuals. I began my career at the state government level in criminal law, moved on to the federal government as a trademark attorney, and most recently in the private sector in a large law firm as a corporate lawyer. As an attorney with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), the federal agency that regulates trademarks, I oversaw the registration of hundreds of trade and service marks resulting in protection for brands, products, business names, slogans, symbols, and images. I am fueled by the opportunity to help other individuals, entrepreneurs, inventors, and designers protect their brands.

I am admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Florida. I received my law degree from North Carolina Central School of Law, 2013. I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Aviation from the University of Central Missouri, 2010. I am a member of the DC Bar, Florida Bar, and George Edgecomb Bar Association.
